Character-Based Art in Motion: How Please Hold Studio Was Born

Sometimes the most powerful ideas arrive when we stop chasing them. For me, it happened during my recent trip away with my daughter for Spring break vacation. Originally, the trip was meant to be nothing more than a chance to rest, recharge, and spend time with my daughter. I had no agenda, no sketchbook deadlines, and no pressure to produce. And yet… that’s exactly when it clicked.

The phrase “please hold” — came to me about a year ago, it felt so on brand for me in a funny way, when I need a break, everything goes on a pause. But on this trip, what was my cheeky catch phrase became more than a joke or a coping phrase. It became a visual concept, a brand seed, and a reminder of where all creative power truly begins: in the pause.

The Moment: How “please hold” went from phrase to philosophy to studio

What started as a personal catchphrase — something I’d say half-jokingly when I was mentally tapped out — suddenly felt like a whole mood, a design language, a roadmap to something meaningful, a studio.

And then it all came together on a long train ride from South Florida to Orlando. I was daydreaming, scribbling in my notebook, not trying to figure anything out. But in the stillness, the whole thing formed. The tone, the visuals, the feeling.

I didn’t plan Please Hold Studio — it emerged from a moment of stillness and a feeling that wouldn’t let go.

Please Hold Studio is built around character-based art — art that centers emotion, intention, and personal rhythm.

The Visual Language: Pause button, O’s glow, character-based art in motion

You’ll see O show up in new ways — as a sticker, a shirt, a glowing mantra on your desk. These pieces of character-based art are designed to hold emotion and playfulness in equal measure. You’ll find new art and storytelling as always. Emotional truths, and moments of quiet humor in the designs.

Think of it as a pause button in your pocket. A little emotional support character to carry with you. A slow brand for fast chaotic times.

Final Thought: Why the pause matters

Please Hold Studio is a reminder that you don’t have to rush to matter. That the pause isn’t the absence of progress — it’s where the good stuff begins.

So if you’re here, take a breath. Whenever the moment feels right, the art, the story, the softness — it’ll all be here when you’re ready. Whether you’re discovering Please Hold Studio for the first time or following O’s journey from the beginning, you’re stepping into a new chapter of character-based art that encourages you to pause and feel.

Centering… please hold.
