Alla K., a Brooklyn-based artist, draws inspiration from the vibrant and eclectic tapestry of her upbringing in New York City. As the daughter of immigrants who arrived in the city in 1980, Alla K. developed a profound love for fashion, art, and pop culture, which continues to fuel her creative expression.
Primarily a self-taught artist, Alla K. honed her artistic skills from a young age, exploring various mediums throughout her life. Her journey led her to the world of fashion design, where she immersed herself for two decades, refining techniques such as line building, color theory, textures, and mood – skills that now permeate her unique approach to art.

In the late 90s, Alla K. pursued formal education in fashion design, laying the foundation for a successful career. However, her artistic evolution took a fascinating turn during the pandemic lockdown. It was then that she conceived the iconic Russian doll character that has become a central theme in her work.
This classic Russian doll, whom Alla K. affectionately calls “O,” serves as a resilient symbol, embodying the idea that no matter how many times life pushes her over, she will always right herself again. This concept resonated deeply with Alla K. during challenging times, inspiring her to modernize the character to reflect contemporary culture.
I’ve always believed that everyone has something special to offer the world—mine just happens to be art. These photos capture a bit of my life, whether at an event or just enjoying a quiet moment making art. I’m really just like everyone else: I love exploring, learning, and creating.
Putting myself and my art out into the world hasn’t always been easy; I’ve had to work through discomfort and self-doubt along the way. However, embracing this journey has ultimately led me to a more empowered place in my life. The joy I get from making art is something I hope to share with you through every painting, drawing, or project. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!
